Profile
Caius Romano is an executive assistant for a VA medical center in Chicago.
They are a former US Marine Corps sergeant now living in Chicago in a spacious, one-bedroom apartment with their former stray grey tabby cat Aelia. They come from a family of fully Italian-American New Yorkers. They are in a polycule consisting of a dock worker named Finch, a Navy veteran funeral director named Occasus, a print shop owner named Romeo, and a doctor named Charles. They sometimes like to dress up as two girlsonas, Vanessa and Lily.
Appearance
Caius looks very much like their canon self including being physically fit, but the only difference is their hairstyle being more modern.
For their usual fashion, they wear neat, modest and professional clothing such as suits in black or mute colors, ties that are usually solid colors (but sometimes they’ll wear the silly garish ties gifted to them by their girlfriend), plain black or red socks and casual office shoes. For outerwear, they usually wear windbreakers and shearling coats. For accessories, they alternate between wearing earrings similar to their canon earrings to simple small silver loop earrings, a silver garnet necklace, and a smartwatch. Sometimes they wear red or purple fingernail polish, but they’ll also let their girlfriend color it whatever she feels like giving them.
For casual fashion, they’ll still wear similar clothing to their office attire but in a more laidback fashion: they forgo the suit and tie, and they leave a few of the top buttons unbuttoned on their shirt. They’ll also sometimes wear the brighter, sometimes tacky, shirts they’ve been gifted by their girlfriend, especially ones with peacocks on them. They also sometimes wear chukka boots or, if lazy, their running shoes. However, they also like to wear skirts, tights and heels from time to time, as well as very classy jewelry.
When they want to dress up as their girl(boss)sona Vanessa, they tend to wear very alluring office attire but in a way that makes it clear they’re the one in control. They wear a blond wig done up in a bun, smoky eyeshadow and deep red lipstick, and also usually wears a silicone breastplate with the cleavage showing.
As their more demure girl(y)sona Lily, however, they prefer wearing a compromise between alluring and modest attire, primarily in red, pink and black. They also wear a chestnut-colored long-haired wig, natural makeup, and pearl necklaces and bracelets.
Personality
Caius is more fun-loving and less high-strung than their canon counterpart, softened by a more modern, mundane life. They can still be quite reserved but it’s hard for them to not be catty or outwardly judgmental. They’re also particularly a little more flamboyant, and also willing to be goofy and filled with heart-eyes whenever Finch is around.
History
Caius had a very similar background as their canon counterpart (including the traumatic grooming and assault, unfortunately) but set in modern times. They were a bright individual, and an exceptional student, but also a bully for a while. They were set to join the Marine Corps once they finished high school, and was proud of it at first.
Throughout their teen life, they struggled with their identity and sexuality. They initially believed they were just a gay man, especially after an incident in high school where they ogled at the football players in the locker room for too long, but they remained quiet about this since their father was not too accepting of any of that “nonsense”. This homosexuality belief remained even when they joined the military, but halfway through their 20s they realized they still liked women, or in truth, they didn’t really care about the identity of those who attracted them. They didn’t know the word for pansexuality and didn’t identify as such until they left the military, and also after meeting the right people, including their long-term girlfriend Finch, they realized nonbinary best describes how they feel about their gender.
In their 20s, they had a lot to figure out, and also had a lot of inner demons to deal with. They had unchecked survivor’s guilt from their childhood which led to bouts of depression and heightened behavior, including lack of impulse control, especially when angered, which sometimes led to violent acts. They didn’t receive any therapy or medication for this at the time since their parents believed only family could help them. It wasn’t until they turned 25 that they finally acknowledged there was something really wrong with them. It started affecting their work ethic, and besides being disillusioned by the military they sometimes participated in risky behavior, from spending too much money (something they used to be really good at controlling) to getting into inappropriate relationships. Eventually, it got to the point where they had to retire from the military, believing it was the stress taking its toll on them at first. They then sought help for their problems, and they were diagnosed with PTSD and Bipolar II Disorder.
However, things only got harder from then on. They were in a turbulent relationship with a Milanese boyfriend named Filippe, who was abusive, narcissistic, and manipulative, coercing Caius into a half-closed relationship due to jealousy. Caius dated him while they were deployed in Italy, and kept in touch even as they moved back home, then got further into a relationship when he moved to New York to be with them after being discharged. Filippe gaslit them constantly and attributed everything they did wrong to their mental illnesses, considered them dangerous to be around others except him. Caius never talked about Filippe in therapy since they were made to believe everything was their fault, and so the problems persisted. It wasn’t until they met their future long-term girlfriend Finch at a bar that they were slowly able to break away from Filippe. Finch helped them realize they were in an abusive relationship, and helped Caius get him to take a hike. Afterwards, Caius was on a better path towards healing, and they also felt safe enough to adopt a pet.
After several years of medication and therapy, they finally felt much happier with their life at 32. Nowadays, they work for a Veterans Affairs medical center as an executive assistant. They’ve also developed an intimate web of poly relationships with several people: Finch, their mainstay who brings out their goofy side; Occasus, a US Navy veteran who they relate to very well and can enjoy its company in silence; Romeo, their wishy washy jester who they love to tease; and Charles, who they’re still navigating a relationship with, but it’s mostly because he’s shy and only recently returned to the dating scene. They’ve also developed “girlsonas” named Vanessa and Lily to explore their feminine-presenting desires, except they’re still too shy to let anyone but close loved ones know about them. They will wear skirts and heels outside of these sonas, however.
